“In Raku, I discovered something that goes beyond simple sensations - it is the continuous discovery of something that makes it unique and gives it, in its unrepeatability, that extra charge which is synonymous with joy and harmony.”

— Maria Luisa Gagliardi

About

Maria Luisa Gagliardi, born in Buenos Aires, where she initially trained and worked as a nutritionist, has moved to the Calabrian capital Catanzaro thirty-five years ago and is now living nearby in her father’s hometown.

In 1992 she graduated in Decorative Arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Catanzaro.

She has since experimented with different techniques on different materials. The Japanese method of Raku has fascinated her and led her to perfect the technique to a high level.

She dedicated her life to artistic and cultural activities, especially in several social facilities for children and people with special needs.

In recent years Gagliardi exhibited her works in various artistic events, fairs, collective and personal exhibitions.

“Art is a passion that has always accompanied me, and that has led me to experiment with new techniques on different materials, such as ceramics, glass, paper, recycled materials.”
